We offer utility and rental/mortgage assistance. Clients must meet certain requirements, such as being income eligible.  We also offer the USDA commodity program, which allows a family to get staple food items every 2 months if they meet our criteria/guidelines.
 
Helping Hands
 
We offer utility and rental assistance, as well as food. On occasion, we can issue a gas voucher and also medication assistance, however we are highly limited on our funds to assist with on this. Clients must meet certain requirements, such as being income eligible.

Hours:  Monday - Wednesday - Friday   9:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Applications:  Can be picked up at front door & dropped back at office 24 hours per day.

This is a program that has no income guidelines and is available to anyone. The program accepts cash, checks or food stamps. It is a ministry designed to help families to strecth their food money and have more nutritious meals.

Services:  Accepts and processes applications for food stamps, aid to families with dependent children (AFDC) and TNCare.  Provides counseling for health problems, marriage difficulties, mental health problems, as well as referrals to other agencies.  DCS also serves as a placement agency for Foster Children and Adoptions.  DCS accepts child abuse and neglect reports and serves in the capacity of crisis intervention during emergencies.  APS assist senior citizens that are abused or neglected by family or care givers or seniors that are neglecting themselves.

Services:    Other than routine health problems, immunizations, and physicals, the following services and also available:  Family Planning- includes reproductive planning, counseling, and services such as birth control, pap smears, and testing for sexually transmitted diseases.

Dental Services: Provides general dental services to the general public for a fee based sliding scale.

Nutrition Counseling: Available though the WIC program, by the Health Department physician, and though private physician referral.

Disease Control: Provides testing, counseling and treatment of communicable and sexually transmitted diseases.

AIDS Testing: HIV treating for AIDS s available free of charge to any person. The department does provide pre-and post-testing counseling.

WIC (Women, Infants & Children):  Program provides food supplements to pregnant or nursing women, and infants and children under five years of age.

Project HUG (Help Us Grow): Available for low-income pregnant women, infants, and young children.

Children’s Special Services: Provides services to chronically ill or disabled children.

Vital Records:  Application forms needed to apply for birth and death certificates are available.
